Noteflight selected by MusicFirst to supply cloud-based notation to software suite
Boston, MA (PRWEB) February 14, 2013
Noteflight, LLC (noteflight.com) today announced its partnership with The Music Sales Group’s new digital education division, MusicFirst, offering teachers and students easy-to-use, affordable, cloud-based music education services and related activities. Music Sales selected Noteflight as one of its marquee products that allows teachers and students to create and share music notation online via its award-winning product, Noteflight Classroom.
Noteflight Classroom is cloud-based music notation software, enabling educators to instantly set up a dedicated music learning website on Noteflight’s servers. Instructors are provided with a private online community in which they can immediately enroll their students and begin using Noteflight to create and share musical scores and activities. Schools benefit by not having to undertake a major investment in desktop notation software limited to use in labs: students can access Noteflight from any location and any device.
With the recent launch of its HTML5 product, Noteflight allows both teachers and students to move effortlessly from device to device as they create and share and musical compositions, assignments, exercises and learning resources. Built on a new HTML5 standard for audio that gives websites the capabilities of full-blown music apps, Noteflight is the first notation tool to target both mobile and desktop with a single web-based product.
MusicFirst(TM) is a suite of carefully selected software products that addresses all the key areas of music education: notation, sequencing and music production, music theory, music performance, music learning and appreciation. In addition to Noteflight, these products include O-Generator, Soundation, Musition, Auralia, Charanga, Music World, Focus on Sound, Inside Music, Music Delta, and Naxos Music Library, with more to be added in the future. Led by music education veteran Dr. James Frankel, The MusicFirst(TM) team has long experience of integrating technology effectively into music curriculum.
“As the leader in online music notation, Noteflight was an obvious choice,” remarked Dr. Frankel. “Today’s music educators are looking for education products that are intuitive and approachable and let students work at any time, from any place. Noteflight empowers teachers by giving students a notation tool that students will take to instantly. Teachers can focus on teaching music, rather than teaching how to use software.”
“We’re thrilled to be working with the MusicFirst team,” added Joe Berkovitz, Founder and CEO of Noteflight. “Jim and his team are truly thought leaders in music education and we look forward to working together to support music educators around the globe.”
MusicFirst(TM) makes exploration, creation, sharing, and assessment instantly accessible at any time on any internet-enabled device: computer, iPad, smartphone, laptop, or even a Smart Board. All teacher and student work is saved in the cloud. Software is automatically updated. Students have instant access to programs and their work. The service costs far less than buying individual site licenses and does not involve users’ IT departments.
MusicFirst(TM) will exhibit and conduct workshops at upcoming music education conferences in Texas, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.
