Noteflight’s Web-Based Music Notation Service Reaches More Than Half a Million Users

Noteflight users embrace cloud-based music creation and social sharing of scores, expanding to more than 500K registered users.

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) November 01, 2012

Noteflight LLC announced today that its online community of music notation enthusiasts has expanded to well over half a million registered users and continues to flourish at an unprecedented pace. By relying on the strength of its unique product features and allowing users to share musical scores in an open, social environment, Noteflight’s community of active composers, arrangers and students has grown rapidly and organically.

Noteflight offers individuals a free subscription, but also allows users to upgrade to its premium product, Crescendo, which includes advanced features and greater score capacity. Unlike traditional music notation packages like Finale and Sibelius, Noteflight is purely a web application. Anyone can easily share a score by way of a simple URL or embed an interactive score in any web page. Noteflight does not require users to download software or continue to pay for expensive upgrades or hardware enhancements, making it affordable and accessible for everyone.

“Noteflight’s founding vision was to make music notation available to everyone, and we continue to build on that mission, explained Joe Berkovitz, CEO and Founder of Noteflight. “We are thrilled to have passed over half a million users and we look forward to expanding the community further as we continue Noteflight’s technology transition to HTML5 in the coming year and make the service even more friendly and useful.”

Noteflight is well on its way to shifting its technology from Flash to HTML5 and has already made its viewer available on most mobile devices. Noteflight users are able to view scores on laptops and tablets in a variety of learning, practice and performance settings. The need to use notation software installed on a lab computer is a thing of the past.

In addition to serving individual consumers, Noteflight offers its cloud-based music notation software to private music instructors, K-12 music teachers, university level music educators and has licensed its viewer technology to leading global music companies, such as CCLI and Yamaha. Noteflight also serves publishers, institutions and distributors of sheet music through the licensing of its Noteflight Publishing Service, a cloud-based platform that manages digital sheet music assets and delivers interactive musical content to tablets, smartphones, and HTML5 browsers.
