We are excited to announce the winner of the High School Brass Quintet Composition Contest! For this contest, we teamed up with KHS America and Presidio Brass to ask high school band and orchestra students to compose and submit original brass quintet works composed in Noteflight. The winner will have Presidio Brass come do a masterclass and premiere the winning work at their high school and on top of that, also receive a $500 cash prize!
Johnum Palado, a senior at Caddo Magnet High in Shreveport, LA, has played the violin for 10 years and piano, 8. Performances include the Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall, soloist with the Rapides Symphony Orchestra, and the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. Composing, however, has always been a relaxing hobby between music lessons and academics, writing various pieces from choral to video game-esque, orchestral works. Johnum plans to attend the Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music to double major in Mathematics and Violin Performance.

Congratulations Johnum and Alex and great job to all of the other participants. We enjoyed listening to every entry and look forward to hearing what you compose next!
Stay tuned for our next Noteflight Contest which will be announced in the coming weeks.
